Firmographics
The foundational profile of every company in the fabric
What is it
HG Insights Firmographics provides the foundational company attributes needed to identify, segment, and manage accounts: revenue, employee count, industry classification, headquarters and location details, and corporate hierarchy linkages.
The dataset also includes domain mapping to help align the entities HG tracks with a customer's internal account records.
Firmographic attributes are actively maintained and refreshed using company financial statements, public disclosures, surveys, government filings, and other external data sources.
What problem it solves
Every GTM organization has firmographic data. The challenge is ensuring it is accurate, current, consistently structured, and connected across the corporate hierarchy.
Without that foundation, teams can misclassify accounts, segment and route based on outdated information, create duplicate records, and miss the parent–subsidiary relationships that determine who owns the buying decision. HG Insights Firmographics provides a reliable company profile and clear hierarchy context, so sales, marketing, and operations can plan territories, align account lists, and act on the right entities.
What you can do with it
- CRM enrichment: Keep CRM and marketing systems current with structured company data
- Account segmentation: Build territories and segment accounts by revenue, employee count, geography, or industry
- ICP design: Identify best-fit companies based on size, industry, and geographic footprint
- Parent-subsidiary mapping: Understand corporate hierarchies for account management, routing, and enterprise sales
Real-world example
Territory Planning
A sales leader needs to divide the US market among 10 reps. Using firmographics, she filters to companies with $50M–$500M revenue in the Manufacturing vertical, then assigns by state. Each rep gets a balanced book with clear account profiles — no guessing about company size or whether they're enterprise or SMB.
Example Data
Salesforce, Inc.
“Salesforce is a $41B enterprise software publisher headquartered in San Francisco with 83K+ employees. They're a Fortune 500 company (#114) spending an estimated $4.1B on IT. This is the corporate headquarters, not a subsidiary or regional office. As a mega-enterprise in the software/SaaS space, they're a prime target for enterprise tooling vendors but require complex, multi-threaded sales motions.”

Under the hood
How it's unique to the market
HG's firmographics are purpose-built for technology intelligence. Every company record is the pivot point for resolving product installs — meaning our firmographic coverage is tuned for companies that BUY TECHNOLOGY, not just any business entity.
How it's derived
Company records are aggregated from job postings, resumes, web crawling, and third-party data sources. Each company is deduplicated using a CID (Company ID) algorithm based on name + location fields. Records are cleaned, enriched with industry codes, and linked to corporate hierarchies via subsidiary/parent relationships.
